EXPLANATION OF THE RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION FOR ADULTS
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is the process through which adults - and children of catechetical age - are fully initiated into the Roman Catholic Church. The RCIA process consists of four stages: Inquiry or Precatechumenate, Catechumenate, Purification and Enlightenment, and Mystagogia. Three liturgical rites are also part of the process: the Rite of Sending, the Rite of Acceptance into the Order of Catechumens, and the Rite of Election, culminating in the celebration of the Sacraments of Initiation at the Easter Vigil.
Anyone interested in learning more about the Catholic Church can attend an informal Inquiry session. Dates and times are available by calling the parish office (689-6240).
